Many people only filed their first papers because this was all they
needed to do. This caused him some trouble during World War One. He was still a citizen of Germany and considered an enemy alien. He then had to refile his declaration to become a citizen. He did become a citizen in June of 1919.

The children's faces were turned away to avoid the blowing snow and they did not see the car coming. The driver was going slow and had his lights on. He was not able to stop in time as he was going down hill. Robert was killed and Miola had both of her legs broken and internal injuries.
