Family came to New York 10-Nov-1884 on the SS LESSING (Hamburg-American Lines) from Hamburg, Germany. Their last residence in Germany was Marlaw, Mechlenburg in Germany. He farmed in Spring Prairie, Walworth County, Wis. and later moved in with his daughter, Anna, and her husband. He died during the night of a stroke of paralysis.

Catharina: Confirmed in 1840 in the Marnitz parish, Mecklenburg, Germany. Her parents lived in Malow at the time. She died at their farm located a few miles west of Burlington, Wisconsin, in Spring Prairie. The area was called Gardener's Prairie.

She came to the United States with her parents in 1884. After her marriage she lived in and around Slades Corners and Burlington, Wisconsin. She later moved in with her son, Ernest, near Waterford, Wisconsin. She died there after a four week illness.

She married 8-May-1885 in Slades Corners, Kenosha Co., Wisconsin, (see note 11), Frederick Jahnke, born __-Dec-1858 in Wisconsin, (son of John Henry Jahnke and Maria) died __-___-1932, buried in Burlington Cemetery, Burlington, Wisconsin. Frederick: The family is in the 1900, 1905, 1920 census of Burlington, Racine County, Wisconsin.

August Theodore Heinrich Thiede , (Johann Joachine3, Johann Joachien2, Jacob Thomas1) born 29-Jun-1866 in Parchim, Mecklenburg, Germany, baptized 15-Jul-1866 in Parchim, Mecklenburg, Germany, died 18-Apr-1948 in Burlington Township, Racine County, Wis., buried 21-Apr-1948 in Burlington Cemetery, Burlington, Wisconsin, obituary 22-Apr-1948 in Burlington Newspapers, immigrated 16-Oct-1884 to Port of New York. He came to the United States with his parents and sister on the S.S. LESSING. They arrived at the Port of New York on November 10, 1884. On March 30, 1889, he filed a Declaration Of Intention to become a citizen or first papers in Walworth County, Wisconsin. He did not become a citizen at this time. Many people only filed their first papers because this was all they needed to do. This caused him some trouble during World War One. He was still a citizen of Germany and considered an enemy alien. He then had to refile his declaration to become a citizen. He did become a citizen in June of 1919.
He was a farmer and farmed in Spring Prairie, Walworth County, Wisconsin. Later he bought a farm in Burlington Township, Racine County from his uncle, John Hinzpeter.

Vohs, born 10-Jan-1869 in Burlington, Racine County, Wisconsin, (daughter of Carl Frederich Wilhelm Vohs and Sophia Marie Augusta Schultz) died 4-Oct-1890 in Spring Prairie, Walworth Co., Wisconsin, buried 6-Oct-1890 in Burlington Cemetery, Burlington, Wisconsin, obituary 08-Oct-1890 in Burlington Free Press, etc. Anna: At the time of her death she and August were living on the Captain Cavano farm on Gardner's Prairie in Spring Prairie, Walworth County, Wisconsin. She died of complications from the birth of her daughter.

Elizabeth: According to 1910 census she had two children that had died before that date. She had been ill for a year before her death. She died of breast cancer.

He was a member.He and his parents were originally Baptist.

Hit by a car during a short blizzard in Lightfield Hill Cut while on his way to school with his sister Miola. He and his sister were walking to school on December 20, when they were both struck by a car. A blizzard came up without warning and reduced visibility to 10 feet. The children's faces were turned away to avoid the blowing snow and they did not see the car coming. The driver was going slow and had his lights on. He was not able to stop in time as he was going down hill. Robert was killed and Miola had both of her legs broken and internal injuries.

He spent his early years in and around Burlington, Wisconsin. After his marriage he he lived in Rochester, Wisconsin, for a time. Hugo's body was found along the Honey Creek river bank. He died of an apparent heart attack while fishing. He was a retired farmer and had farmed in the Rochester, Racine County, Twin Lakes and Wheatland, Kenosha County, areas.
