JURORS HEAR OF WORTMAN YOUTH DEATH THEN ADJOURNS UNTIL AFTER HOLIDAYS - GIRL NICELY ON ROAD TO RECOVERY.
Funeral services for Robert Wortman, who was killed by being run down by an auto driven by Charles Wiswell of Elkorn, in a blinding snow storm last Thursday morning, were held from the Wortman home Saturday afternoon, Rev. Kionka of Lyons officiating and the remains laid to rest in the Burlington cemetery. The esteem in which the youth was held and the sympathy extended the bereaved parents was evident by the large circle of neighbors and friends who attended the services.
His younger sister, Miola Wortman, is recuperating nicely as can be expected at Memorial hospital. She had both legs badly broken and they must remain in casts for some time. The injuries were undoubtably received by the car passing over her limbs.
Upon being appraised of the accident last Thursday morning Coroner W.F. Kisow came to Burlington and empaneled a jury composed of Theodore Lightfield, U.S. Fay, Al. Reuschlein, Frank Bellen, Jr., Gilbert Kasher, and M.M. Morrissey.
They viewed the remains, drove to the scene of the accident where Mr. Wiswell explained how it happened and went to the hospital to hear the story of Miola Wortman.
The jury then adjourned until after the holidays when it will meet at the convenience of Coroner Kisow and Walworth county authorities. Mr. Wiswell has not been held, authorities holding the opinion it was an unavoidable accident. Mr. Wiswell stopped at once to tend whatever aid he could, brought the injured girl to the Burlington hospital and since has done everything possible to assist the bereaved parents.
Robert Wortman is survived by his parents and nine brothers and sisters, Fordyce, Irene, Miola, Janet and Goldie are the sisters; and the brothers are Alvin, Richard, Junior and Lester.

CHILDREN RUN DOWN IN BLINDING BLIZZARD. ROBERT WORTMAN KILLED - SISTER NOT EXPECTED TO LIVE.
Caught in the deep Lightfield hill cut between Spring Prairie and Burlington during the ten minute blizzard Thursday morning, Robert Wortman, age 12, was run down by a car and killed, and his sister Miola, age 8, is lying in Memorial hospital with injuries from
which she may not recover. They are the children of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wortman.
The second tragedy of the week occurred while the children were on their way to the Lightfield District school about 8:30 o'clock. Charles Wiswell of Elkhorn was driving the car which struck the children. The blinding snow storm which came without warning is thought to have confused both driver and children.
Mr. Wiswell was driving with his lights on, it is reported, and the children walking with faces averted to protect themselves from the driving snow failed to see the approaching car until it was too late. The snow obscured the driver's view of the road ahead.
The children were brought to Memorial hospital. Robert lingered about 15 minutes. The little girl suffered compound fractures of both legs and internal injuries. Her condition is considered serious, (first tragedy was child crushed to death between a car and building).

ESTABLISH FUND TO AID 8 ORPHANED CHILDREN
A Joseph Fuller Children's Fund has been established by the Town of Burlington
Volunteer Fire Department and Auxiliary for the eight Burlington children orphaned on
Thanksgiving Day when their mother and father were killed in a head-on collision in
Kenosha County. Also killed was the children's grandmother.
Donations will be collected by the Burlington National Bank and will be kept in a
separate fund until all legal procedures are completed and a guardian is named. It will
then be changed to a trust fund a spokesman said this morning.
Action establishing the fund was taken at a Joint meeting of the two volunteer
organizations Friday night.
Meanwhile, Jose Guzman, 31, of Kenosha, driver of one of the vehicles involved in
the two car collision, was fined $15 in Kenosha County Court Friday after he pleaded
guilty to a charge of driving without a license,
DRIVER FINED $15
Guzman also was booked on a charge of operating his car on the wrong side of the
road. However, Kenosha County District Attorney J.B. Molinaro said that until a full
investigation is made no warrant will be prepared on the more serious count.
Guzman suffered minor injuries in the crash that killed Joseph F. Fuller, 44, his
wife, Ruth, 37, and Fuller's mother, Mrs. Gertrude Fuller, 72, all of Burlington.
Guzman was treated at Kenosha Memorial Hospital following the accident and released.
Molinaro said this morning that all the evidence shows Guzman was in the wrong
lane, this would be an element of a possible negligent homicide warrant.
He said a number of witnesses would have to be questioned before the extent of
prosecution could be determined.

The Guzman car and the Fuller station wagon collided on a sharp curve on Highway
43 about three miles northwest of Kenosha shortly after 17 persons in three generations

on "it was quite a shock and it has been hard on everyone."

Klein of Burlington.
Sheriff's deputies reported Guzman had been drinking and that the impact apparently
was 3 1/2 feet over the center line in the eastbound lane. The Fullers were heading east,
Guzman west.
DENIES DRINKING
Friday morning Guzman gave a tape recorded statement to Chief Investigator Jerry
Sonquist of the Kenosha Sheriff's Department.
Sonquist said Guzman denied he had been drinking before the mishap. Guzman said
he was traveling 40 to 45 miles an hour as he rounded the curve but couldn't remember
any details because everything happened so fast.
Guzman said he, his brother Luis, 22, and Joaquin Olivares, 18, of Kenosha, had Just
